God's Work.  Our Hands.

September 26, 2020

Projects to grow in Christ and serve others:

  • Cooking Meals for Shut-ins: Cook and deliver a meal for one of our congregation's Shut-ins. After you sign up, we will provide you with the name of a Shut-in as well as their contact information. You will need to make arrangements to deliver the meal.

  • Making Cards for assisted living residents: Make and send cards to Autumn Winds and Legacy at Forest Ridge nursing homes/assisted living centers. A kit of card stock, stickers, envelopes, and addresses will be provided. Let us know how many cards you want to make.

  • Creating Prayer Flags: Prayer flags originated in Tibet thousands of years ago. The monks wrote prayers on small flags and strung them up in the mountains so the wind would carry their prayers around the world. Supplies will be provided for 2 flags, 1 to keep and 1 to give.

  • Urban Farm: 8:30am - 11am at 5200 Enrique M. Barrera Parkway, San Antonio, TX 78227. This is a 40+ acre working garden, cultivating fresh produce to provide healthy, nutritious, and fresh foods for distribution. Volunteers work as a group to assist the farmer with planting, harvesting, caring for, and cleaning fruits, vegetables, and other edible plants. Other duties may include composting, weeding, digging, hoeing, and watering in the field. Assistance may be needed with landscape and property clean up.

  • New Braunfels Food Bank's Kitchen Table Pantry: 8:30am - 11am at 1620 South Seguin Avenue, New Braunfels, TX 78130. Volunteers will assist in keeping the "Client Choice" pantry and refrigerators stocked for shoppers, work the check out table, and verify quantities of shoppers' items. Occasionally, volunteers may need to assist shoppers to their vehicle with their grocery items, or do some light cleaning in the pantry area.

  • New Braunfels Food Bank's Warehouse Sorting & Packing: 9am - 11:30am at 1620 South Seguin Avenue, New Braunfels, TX 78130. Groups and individuals work together to sort and/or pack produce, non-perishable foods, and household items, preparing them for distribution. Duties may include checking for expiration dates, opened packages and spoilage, labeling cans, and packing bags of food or household items. Other duties may include general cleaning of the area, breaking down boxes, etc. This project is fun and rewarding for both adults and children.
